These days. . .

It's been an EXHAUSTING couple of weeks, so that may help to explain the lack of any pictures or posts the last few weeks. Jay transitioned into his new routine very well at school, but whew. . . at home, he's been unleashing a little. Let's just say he is experimenting with his boundaries and doesn't like to be told "no." It's a hard lesson for such a little guy, but I cannot imagine teaching it to him when he gets any bigger or stronger!

Even though we've had some tough times over the last few weeks (temper tantrums, overflowing septic tanks, and super-busy days at work), it has been amazing watching Jay learn so many new things so quickly. He carried my pocketbook to me at the back door the other night when we were getting ready to leave the house. I was not moving quickly enough for him! He runs (yes, runs) to his high chair at the mention of breakfast, lunch or supper. If there is a bib anywhere nearby, he brings that back to me, too. And the clapping and dancing we get to enjoy these days - - it just warms me to the inside of my soul to see him enjoying life so much.

So, it's been another busy day, but I wouldn't change a thing about it. I'm beat, have a ton of housework and school work I should be doing, but sitting down and doing nothing sounds so much better. Maybe I should vacuum up all those little pieces of the playground mulch that keep falling out of Jay's clothes at the end of the day. Ok, maybe I'll get that tomorrow. . .

We made it!!!

Last night, we labeled, packed, and loaded up everything Jay would need to start at pre-school today. I've been thinking about this day for months. I have worried so much that Jay would cry and scream when I dropped him off. I've been worried that he wouldn't eat or nap or do anything that he was supposed to today. So, we unloaded at "school" this morning, and I took him in for the early drop-off. He walked in holding my hand, spotted a big tub of toys, and then took off. He didn't even look back. No tears. No crying. No misery. He had a great day. I got a sweet little note in his bag this afternoon that he had eaten well and napped (after a slight protest, but still slept an hour). His teachers wrote that they are glad to have him in their class. Today was a good day. :)

Yew yew.

Me: Good night, Jay. I love you.
Jay: yew yew. (Traslated as love you, of course!)

A drool only a mother could love.
