A Whole New World - - A Whole New Mess!!!

I posted pictures earlier today after lunch. Jay was holding onto a little biter biscuit and managed to swipe it into his mouth a few times. (See the nice, clean pictures from earlier today just below this post.) Here are pictures from supper - - not so clean! We gave him the cookie again this evening and he went to town. Really, it's a whole new level of mess. . .

It's a Whole New World!

There is some major potential here for self-feeding! I am very, very excited!

He's been practicing biting his lips this week.

The Tongue

We see a lot of Jay's tongue lately. He's been letting that little thing hang out of his mouth for the whole world to see. It makes us very happy that we took that LONG trip to Savannah the day after we got home from the hospital to have that little tongue-tie clipped. He's got quite a future ahead of him in licking ice cream cones.

Jay was happy to see his Nana and Papa this weekend.

Seven Months!

I love the birth-month blog. It makes me stop and think about how dramatically everything changes in a matter of weeks, sometimes even days. Friday, literally three days ago, Jay started making a brand new sound. He pushes his lips together and makes the "b" sound, but its reinforced with a lot of spit, milk, or food - - whatever happens to be in his mouth at the time. I was cleaning bananas and oatmeal out of my eye at 7:45 Sunday morning because the mood struck for Jay to make his new sound. We went grocery shopping after school today and Jay continued experimenting with his new-found voice and volume. In the produce section (where there are no tall shelves to absorb the sound), Jay started "ahhhh"ing as loud as I have ever heard him. People were staring at us! Jay was sitting tall and proud at the sound of his own voice and I was embarrassed, but definitely laughing with him.
Seven months is shaping up to be a lot of fun!

Mmmmm, fingers

Ready for the boat in his new hat!

Supper is a lot more fun when you spread it across your whole face.

Naked, Naked, Naked

Here is the report from Mama Judy, our babysitter, yesterday - - imagine these words from a loving grandmother-type with a nice, thick Venezuelan accent: "Jay was a very good boy today. I let him be naked with just his diaper and he laugh and laugh. Then, I put his clothes on and he cry and cry!" My boy does love his naked time. Really, I'm dreading when he figures out how to take the clothes off himself!

He did enjoy the walk we went on yesterday afternoon despite the face in this picture.

I know he's thinking, "Seriously, Mom, another picture?"

And finally, at the mention of naked time. . .

The Little Things

It's the little things that make me really, really happy these days. Like the fact that I got to unload all of the groceries this afternoon when we got home from the store while Jay played happily in his saucer. . .

Here are a few pictures from the last week - Jay's been busy eating, sleeping, and playing. He's starting to get very good at reaching out for the toy he wants!

Crazy bed-head hair :)
PS: I never posted after Jay's six month check-up. . . weight: 23 pounds,
height: 27 inches. That's one big baby!
